Someone Is There

I Couldn’t Hear Nobody Pray,
I Couldn’t Hear Nobody Pray,
Way Down Yonder By Myself
An I couldn’t hear nobody pray

You ever felt like you were all alone? The world can be a terrible place when you are alone. I can remember as a young child having dreams about being somewhere where I couldn’t get in touch with or contact my family. There is something about being with others.

The singer in our spiritual simply could not hear anybody praying. She finds herself just like I did, without others to help. When troubles come upon us, there is something about knowing that somebody cares enough to pray for our good. The Bible tells us that prayers of righteous avail much (James 5:16) and a growing body of scientific knowledge points to the fact that prayer helps, but sometimes like the singer we can not hear anyone praying.

OK, what do we do when we find ourselves alone and in need of help? First, we must recognize that sometimes we aer gonna have to pray for our own selves by our own self. Next, we must recognize that even if we can’t hear that prayer from others, we cannot be certain that no one is praying. We can thank God that often there are those who are praying even for our good without us knowing. Finally, we must hold on to the one who “will never leave us nor forsake us.” (Hebrews 13:5). That one who sticketh closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24) will always be there with us in this life for “he careth for us.” (1 Peter 5:7)

Even though there are times we may not hear anybody praying, we can still know that there is a God working in our best interests.

Holy God we come to you knowing that sometimes friends and even family may fail us and we will feel so all alone. Touch us Father and remind us that you are there. Yes we may not hear anybody else praying, but Lord remind us that you are there and you care for us.
